Wheel hub bearing question

Should the splines of the front axle be lubricated before inserting into a new hub/bearing assembly? Or, just leave dry? I've read previous posts on the bearing installations, but haven't found the answer. I need to replace the hub assembly on my '02 GTP and just want to make sure I have all the necessary items to do the job before I get into it.

There is no requirement to grease the splines of the axle shaft but it won't hurt either. Just use good quality wheel bearing grease sparingly.

The important part will be properly preloading to the proper torque specs which may vary depending on what year your Grand Prix is and what the hub manufacturer specifies.

Thanks Bnaylor for the quick reply. I'll probably use whatever the factory used on the splines (if anything). I just wanted to be sure ahead of time if there was anything else that I needed. The hub manufacturer suggests 180ft/lbs on the axle nut. So, that means I need a new torque wrench for this application.
