Hi I'm new to the Mr2 thing so bear with me. Well I'm thinking about starting a MR2 project later on. I would like to get like a 91-95 year mr2. Then thinking about swapping in a like 4th generation 3sgte engine I believe had like 245hp or something. Then I guess I will eventually do the trunk mount intercooler and trunk hood scoop and stuff. I just need to learn a few things about Mr2's. How much hp can the 4th generation 3sgte engine take? like how much hp before I have to replace things like pistons, rods, rings and stuff so the engine doesn't break. Also are these engines weak? and what problems do you run into with these cars? Thanks for all the help.

The 3SGTE itself can handle a lot, although it may only be a 4 cylinder engine. According to one of my friends with an all-trac, the 3SGTE's can handle at least 500 horses, but you need major upgrades though. But personally, the 3SGTE is a good motor. One of a kind. I'm sorry I don't know all too much about the 3SGTE motor, but if you want, you could do some more researching. Oh, check out the Tom's Supra. I believe it has a 3SGTE in it.

Cool. I was thinking about rebuilding the entire engine to handle the extra boost. i don't want that much power anyway but having good parts is always safe. I want like 300hp or so maybe 350.
