Can someone please give me advise if you have any knowledge on this issue...I have a Kenwood stereo, pretty high end unit, which I am having issues with.
Every time I put a Cd in, it spools up, then plays for a few seconds, then it shuts off :banghead:.
I requested an exchange through Crutchfield, they sent the new one, I still have the first one they sent me, and this second head unit does the same thing. When I took the stereo and twisted the red wire and yellow together and the ground black and wired it straight to the battery, it worked just fine. Do you guys have any idea why it would shut off? I previously wired it through the Nissan wiring system with the harnesses (etc) and it kept shutting off. Someone suggested the receiver may need the extra power that it is not getting through the car's wiring and said that is is why it works directly to the battery. Is there another way of getting my head unit the power it needs? I can only assume that it is not getting enough power through the car wiring, thus it shuts off when the CD is used. Appreciate the feedback!

I have a Kenwood deck and i find I have that problem occuring lately, although we are having extremely cold weather. Electronics are affected adversely to extreme conditions. My guess is its the weather, alteast for me, i'm going to wait it out. It works fine if i let my car warm up for a while. I don't know about conditions around you, though.

Thats a good point Vinny, it has been freezing cold lately and I have only tried to turn the stereo on when my car is cold. I will let it warm up and then see what happens. It's worth a shot
