2002 Blazer Keyless Entry Woes

I have a 2002 Chevy Blazer with automatic locks, but did not have Keyless Entry/Alarm options. I want to add these options. I have found a module that I think will work and can easily install it. However, from reading other posts, I get the impression that I have to take it to a GM dealer to get the module activated. Has anyone else SUCCESSFULLY done this? What else do I need to purchase/locate/know? Please note, I DON'T want to go with aftermarket stuff, I prefer the factory parts. :banghead:

why not just go aftermarket and get an alarm with keyless entry and starter disable -

All LS and LT Blazers had keyless 99up I believe so check that VIN at dealer - I'm asuming this was a used vehicle purchase with no remote. If not, yep, go aftermarket their distance is much better and some have an added antenna thats good for 100 yards.

Check your option label in the glove box. If you have AUO, your Blazer came with Keyless Entry. Then all you need is the transmitter (key fob).

Yes, the 98-02 models all seemed to come with keyless entry and 2 remotes when new. The "AU0" code does designate keyless entry installed on your options list.
Unless your Blazer was some special ultra basic government issue vehicle with no options, you should have keyless entry and the receiver already installed.
