Hi,
I have a rebuilt 22re engine giving me a check engine light. I have put a vacuum test to the egr and the engine sputters and stalls. I think this is suppose to happen if the egr is working?
The engine runs and starts fine with no miss, however upon fast acceleration it stumbles a bit and backspits. This then triggers the check engine light.
I have all new plugs and wires, and the timing seems to be spot on. I have checked and rechecked the vacuum hoses and find them to be proper with no leaks.
I have the PU up on stands , and I suspect the O2 sensor. The engine after the light is on seems to run alittle high on the idle and it won't idle down properly.
Can the O2sensor cause this condition, and is the vacuum test on the egr a valid way to diagnose it's condition?:screwy: These items are not new. Can any advise be offered up? Thanks, cavf150

First retrieve the codes and find out why the light is coming on.

If you need instructions on ho to retrieve the codes and what they mean, let me know and I can send you something. Very easy to do yourself.

Hey,
I pulled the codes! It took this brain some time how to do it! I have a 21 code and a 52 code. I took care of the 21 with a new O2sensor, however 52 is still there. I managed to figure out that it is the knock sensor circuit I think.
Where is that gizmo, and how do I fix it? The factory manuals do not give any info on this thing. Is it just a take out and put in , or is it a involved fix?
Thanks, cavf150
