Hey guys,
Just signed up today because I was reading your posts about another LS with identical problems as mine. I have an 01 LS V8, I have replaced the coils and plugs, when I removed the spark plugs I noticed oil inside the spark plug well. Once I replaced them the vehicle ran fine for a couple of days, now it doing it again. My thoughts are that oil is getting to the top of the motor causing the spark plugs to fowl, has anybody had any issue like this?
Thank You

Welcome to the forum, now please search it! :)
Yes, oil saturating the coils is a VERY common occurance on the 2000-2001 LS. If you replace the coils without replacing the valve cover gaskets and plug well seals, the problem will reoccur as you have found out.
There is a fix, but if I told you what it is, you probably wouldn't use the very effective search utility, so I'll let you search for it.
To search the forum, go back to the Lincoln LS forum page and in the upper right corner you'll see "Search this Forum." Click on it and type your keyword.

If the spark plug well seal is leaking would that allow oil to the botom part of the spark plug (the sparking element of the plug)?

Nope, not if the spark plug is tight. However, the spark plug may appear to have oil on it because if the coil is misfiring, there will be unburned fuel on the spark plug tip. The unburned fuel will make the carbon on the plug appear shiny, like the plug is saturated with oil.
If the plug appears to have oil on it, leave the plug out of the engine, sitting on a bench or something for a few hours. Check it later and if the shine is gone, then the substance is probably fuel. If after sitting for a few hours the plug still looks oil saturated, then you may have more serious problems.

After months of replacing coils and spark plugs I finally figured out what the hesitation was, an injector wire was frayed. Since putting the connection back properly I haven't had any issues since

Hey, glad to hear you got the issue solved. Thank you for taking the time to follow up with the forum and letting us know what it took to solve your issue!
Did you figure out what caused the wire to fray so it won't happen again, or so others here may know what to look for?

No I don't, I would imagine that it happened when the cover that covers the coils was removed. Now mind you I have had that cover off numerous times as I would only replace the coils that went bad.

Ah, so maybe more of a pinch than a fray? That's reasonable, it's just always nice to understand what the root cause is so you know you have the problem solved and won't, under normal circumstances, experience the headache again.
