I have a 97 tracker with a manual. turn the key and there is nothing, everything else seems to work, like lights radio wipers. Drove it shut if off and then nothing, any ideas where to start?

I would start at the starter.. Follow the wires back to make sure they didn't corrode off or anything. Check fuses, If thats good tap the starter with a hammer.

your vehicle a manual or automatic?

if manual pop the clutch to start it and see if it starts.. if it does then most likely the starter is bad.

If automatic get under there pull the starter off.. 4 bolts (real easy) run it to autozone and have them test it.
replace and start driving again.

This happened to me, it turned out that the heavy rubber floormat was wedged under the clutch just enough that it wasn't making the switch. It really had me puzzled for awhile, what was wrong with yours?

Start simple and work upward. Check the ignition fuse. Several systems run through it and it may have blown. Although '97s aren't known to have bad ECMs you may want to have it checked as well.

If it is the IGN fuse and it keeps blowing, check the O2 sensor. One that is on its way out can cause the fuse to blow.
