Random Stalling

my 99 GA 2.4L likes to stall randomly. it will do it when i turn corners or come to a complete stop. it will also do it while idling or sitting on an incline. it seems to do it when the engine is hot or cold. i can feel it start to die so i throw it into neutral to keep the rpm's up. i have new spark plugs, coils checked out fine, IAC was cleaned. it is throwing the P0172 code and that is it. it was throwing P0172 and P0300 but the misfire code has gone away after they were reset. the P0172 code came back. im not sure what else to try. engine has 106,000 miles on it. any help would be appreciated. Thanks

That code indicates an air/fuel mixture that is too rich. I would check the mass airflow sensor. If that is going, it will often cause the car to stall at idle because the throttle control is not opening enough without you doing it manually by pressing the accelerator.

You cant test the MAF, the 2.4L does not have a MAF :grinno:

The IAC could also be bad or out of adjustment.
Here is the test procedures (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=663849)for that.

Could be several things, you could have contaminated fuel,
fuel fitler could be cloged, damaged ignition system components.
Bad O2 sensors can make it run rich too.

Thiers other test procedures at our GA Tips and Maintenance subforum (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=2148).

hope that helps!

the O2 sensors are recently new. the IAC tested out good. i have looked at the fuel filter and it looks like its the original so that is probably the cause. how does that quick disconnect work? my 97 had it and i couldnt figure it out. my mechanic did it and retrofitted it to make it easier to get off so ill pry have to do that again on my 99.

These newr fitting are much simpler.
You just squeeze the plastic tabs together and pull the lines apart.
They do sell a little tool that helps do this, but pliers work well too.

update: new code is P0108. MAP voltage high. now the SES light is intermittent. it comes and goes. now when the light is on, it runs better with no stalling. when SES light is off, does the random stalling. im assuming that the MAP sensor is the cause of my problem? ive been trying to get this figured out for a few months now.
