i have a frind with a 97 civic si, i know this isnt the spot for this post but could you please help anyways..his civic is blowing black sute of the tail pipe. it cobvers the back of his car with a black powder... to much air ? to much fuel? any suggestions to this problem would be greatly apriciated.

I was unaware that they ever made a 97 si.
Black smoke usually means too much fuel. CEL? or just flooring it with a fart can?

do you realize that you're in the 4th gen forum ... and you're asking about a 6th gen civic?

dude he is more then aware he is posting in a 4th gen forum..alot of ppl prefer searching or asking questions in here cause most of the time u can get a quick reply..besides the problem he is asking about doesnt matter if its 88 or 97..neways i had the same prob in the day..i was running rich..

Hows your gas mileage?
How old is your o2 sensor? Are you running a stock ecu?
Are you sure the smoke isn't dark bluish? If so, run a compression test: dry and wet.
Like turtle said, I also have never heard of a 97 civic si. Whats in it a B16?

i'd put money that there isn't a 97 si in the states. what's done to the engine?

yeah 97 si im from canada, o2 censor is newish and stock ecu.

blue is oil
white is head gasket
never heard of a 97 si, sounds like someone jus put a si badge on it or u got the wrong year...

are you people not reading???? lol. he just said hes from canada. The Si up there is the EX here in the states. the SiR up there is the Si down here. do youre research before flaming on the guy...
