I have a 2003 WRX sedan, put in AVCR and it works great - but the CEL is staying on. Saw lots of threads on resetting ECU on older subs, but none for the newer cars. Any suggestions? I tried the battery diconnect and brake pedal thing - no go. Thanks.

I havent seeen this myself, but I am told there is a manual ecu reset under the wheel, off to the right near the center consule, a bit of a dig...
A yellow button I believe?
I doubt it will say 'Press me!', but it should be there.
If I am wrong, there should be a documentation in your manual
By the way....nice car, man

You could just pull the fuse and let it drain for 20 minutes. What the heck is the brake pedal thing?

The brake thing - a lot of the posts - at least 30 - say that once the battery is disconnected, you shpould step on the brake pedal to drain the last bit of power from the ECU. Yes - it sounds bogus, especially since the ECU has no seperate backup supply - I know 'cause I took it apart to verify the circuit board -
Yellow button - sounds too easy.
Was thinking of buying a scanner - but can't seem to find current year code books - are they the same OBD2 codes from the older asian books?
I have unplugged this darn ECU over and over, and still the CEL is on - I think I hhave narrowed it down to the Injen intake - sice the light stayed on even w/ the avc-r disonnected entirely.
Some folks sat the CEL may take a few hundred miles to reset - true?

Thats cool...
I saw this system advertised in C/D that was software for engine monitoring on a PDA, looked pretty badass -and- had the ability to clear triggers like those [silly] maintenance required lights, I dont know how appealing that is to you
