help with monsoon rear speakers

i put new speakers in.. alpines. the stock speakers have 4 wires.. two for the tweeter and two for the sub. my speaker has built in tweeter. hooked up wires works. with ipod plugged in by tape deck sounds great.. but radio and cd sounds bad no bass what so ever. any tips to fix this??

Factory 6x9s are bi-amped as far as I know, and crossed over either at the amp or somewhere else along the speaker wires. If you have two pairs of wires per 6x9, which two did you hook up? One pair will obviously be for the woofer, and one pair for the tweeter. Depending on which you've used, you may have no bass, or no treble. I've found the easiest way to run after market speakers with the Monsoon system is to bypass the built-in crossovers and run the woofer and tweeter separately just like on the factory 6x9s.

First, determine which pair of speaker wires drive the woofer, and which pair drive the tweeter. You can do this by temporarily hooking up one pair to your Alpine 6x9. If you get bass, you've got the wires for the woofer. If you get treble and little or no bass, you've got the wires for the tweeter. You can hook the wires for the woofer directly to the terminals on your Alpine 6x9s, but you'll have to isolate the tweeter. The filtering capacitor should be mounted on the speaker somewhere, usually next to the magnet, and normally with a coax 6x9 the actual wires for the tweeter are run through the pole vent (center hole) in the magnet. If you can isolate those wires, you can connect them directly to the tweeter wires from your factory stereo, and all should be well. I know this is probably confusing... It would be so much easier to show you, but that's difficult to do here! :) If you're still having trouble, I may be able to whip up a diagram for ya.

If it were me I'd hook up the bass wires to the 6x9 main connector,
and the tweeter leads to the factory one's that are separated already.
Works well with most N-body delcos or Monsoons.
