what did you use to wash? im kind of tallying up what people use, so i can test it out when i can actually wash the car free of salt and things.

Meguiars Gold Class wash.
Dry with a waffle like absorber. Has indents so that any dirt when drying doesn't stay on the paint and create swirls.

LOL! Yeah, my cousin just had a baby back in November. 6 weeks even after the baby is born and you can't do anything either. He was like the squirrel from Hoodwinked. All wired up and shit.

He managed, and said when he could finally do it, it was so worth. His girl said he was like the Energizer Bunny.

Luos, you dont get swirls from the waffle towels?
Hummmm, gotta try that.
we should get together some time and talk car care man.

I use the Mr. Clean Jet Dry system. Its cools cause it drys without having to touch it thereby reducing the risk of swirling the paint. I do use conventional wash microfiber towels once a month, dry with a clean chamoise and then wax with Meguires gold class wax.

I just washed mine too.

Used the jet dry, took about 15-18 minutes to self dry. oh and its like 89 degrees here.

We have extremely hard water here.
That Jet Dry system leaves streaks if I use it. Not liking that.

I used to use the Absorber's to dry. Recently started using a waffle like towel. Prevents the dust that gets on the paint between wash and dry to swirl your paint. Gets stuck in the indents instead of riding across the paint.

Thats actually preaty brilliant.
I use the microfiber ones but yeah they do swirl if you apply enough preasure. I use the "Padding" technique rather then running it accross the paint. Or a clean chamoise but I make sure it has no dirt, no dust, no nothing.
I also use sheep skin mits to wash it. Ive noticed its the absolute softest, most non-abrasive material to soap up the car.

The Jet Dry kit will leave streaks if you use it often enough even without the hard water. It must be the soap, its too thick. Thats why i use conventionanl washing once every 3 weeks.

So how long do the waffle towels last you?
also do you use detailer between waxes?

Mr. Luos
02-08-2007, 11:21 PM
I just started using the waffle towel.
No idea how long it lasts.

I try not to use detailer unless I am at an event.
I am big on Meguiars.

Oh, why not?
I'm not a fan of compounding stuff ontop of the paint but the detailer seems to prolong the "waxed" feel and makes the water roll off everytime.

Yeah I use Meguiar's everything too. Leather wipes, detailer, wax, wheel shine, tire cleaner ect..
I just bought some new Meguiar's NXT series car wash stuff. just like the california gold except the bottle looks so much cooler.

I actually use the detailer for waxing.
Rarely any other time. Doesn't really need it.
Car doesn't see rain, snow, wind, etc...

It gets washed often as well.
I need to get my own waffle towel. I borrow my roommates for now. Only used it 3-4 times, but it seems to have helped. Just doesn't dry like an Absorber does. I still use the Absorber on the glass and the tight spots.

all these clean cars. arg. i might as well show a pic of a really dirty car, that is currently outside. it'll at least make me feel better. this is what happens when you wash with salt, snow, dirt, and w/e else has been on the road before the night it snows.

this is my semi dirty work pants before touching the car

Damn Chiquae! You should be arrested for letting that car get like that!
oh and what is "snow"???? I keep hearing you guys talk about it. :)

Luos your a lucky man. my car is my daily unfortunetly and I dont have a garage so it stays out every night. I do have a car cover but I cant put it on unless the car is already clean otherwise the dirt just rubs back and forth and scratches it.
Its a pain is teh rear man. :banghead:

i hate you for not having this 'snow' stuff. but i see how texas got like 9' or so on the news lol.

but i did feel sorry for the car, and took it to the local scrub a dub. had them do a wash, and underbody flush for like 4 bucks. i can say me detailing the car on christmas really paid off, as my shine was still there. unfortunatly i drove the car home, and now it has ice stuck all over it, with a shine.

i also bought a bunch of detailing stuff today, as the stuff i used on christmas, froze which is bad. im not going to trust it frozen then defrost to mix together. it just doesnt work correctly.

i bought with my autozone gift card :

meguiars gold class shampoo/wash
meguiars plastix
meguiars scratch X
meguiars smooth surface clay bar kit
meguiars step one deep crystal paint cleaner
meguiars step two deep crystal paint polish
meguiars step three deep crystal carbana wax
meguiars hot wheel and tire shine
meguiars gold class vinyl/rubber protectant
12 new 100% cotton terry towels

quite a bit huh?

im seriously thinking about investing in a g100 from meguairs. i dont see how i could pay 230 for it though. lifetime warrenty though.
