I have a '98 4.3L SLT 4x4 Jimmy. I believe the starter has gone bad. I read somewhere that I would need to support both engine and transmission and remove some of their mountinig bolts in order to remove the starter. This sounded crazy to me. Can anyone confirm or deny?

You can get the starter out without moving the engine. It is very tight, but it can be done.
