Overheating Catalytic!!

The car in question is a 1994 Intrepid with the 3.5. We have replaced every single sensor in this car along with the coil, computer, etc!! The cat still heats up cherry red. The car runs great, no mis-firing, engine timing is right on, but within a short time the cat will heat up. Already ruined one cat. Does anyone have any clues? HELP!!!:banghead:

Fuel pressure is within factory spec. It's the driver's side that's heating up.

What do you think?

you would need to connect a scanner and checked with fuel trims and injector pulse

you could have a fuel injector sticking open and causing over fueling but the car could still run fine and not throw a code. check the oil and see if it smells of gasoline. Im not a 100% on this idea but it makes sense to me. Ive heard of cats overheating and failing because of a bad injector or two. it usually melts em down pretty good! Has it been doing this very long? Whats the history on this baby?

Not too long. We even switched the injectors from one side to the other and still the same thing! AARRGGH!!!

I would double checked all the connectors to the coil and injectors, I have seen many people switch 1-3 coil connectors and so forth the vehicle runs but very rich, all the connector are the same just the color of 1 wire makes the diff good luck
