I have a 98 Dodge Stratus and after running for a few minutes it starts to overheat and there is a bubbling noise coming from the coolent reservoir, I was told that this could be because there was some freezing in the block and radiator and I need to put the car into a garage to completly thaw it out, could this be right or is someone blowing smoke?

Blown headgasket will allow combustion gasses into the cooling system. Ice does not circulate in the cooling system and can lead to overheating and blowing a headgasket.

If it is freezing. Have it changed with the right mixture (usually 50/50) of antifreeze/coolant. It's something that can be done yourself, but it's not a quick and easy job, and there are hazardous waste disposal issues to contend with.

KimMG is right about what a blown head gasket can do. pressure from the cylinders is blowing past the gasket into the cooling system, if that's the problem. Another indication of this is the slow loss of fluid and no leaks to be found.

Check and replace your radiator cap. I had the same problem (without the overheating). The cooling system is a 16 lb. system and when that cap starts to wear out, it allows coolant to escape into the reservoir before it is supposed to.
