Hey there guys (and ladies if there are any...)

Got a problem (well, the girlfriend has a problem, but any way...)
The car is a 95 GP 3.1L auto...
When she starts the car and it's on park it idles at around 2500 (that's crazy, I'm used to about 800 and as low as 500 with the civic my mother had before...) and when she puts the car on drive it goes down to ~1500 to 1800 don't remember exactly. What do you guys think is going on?

And another question, I'm going to do her oil change but I don't know how much oil goes inside... so, how many quarts will fit? I'll use 5W30, anybody think I should use something else? (and that's running in temperature of about -20C)

The high idle is either a vacuum leak or a faulty IAC (Idle Air Control) valve in the throttle body. That car holds 4.5 Quarts of oil including filter change.

All right, thanks!

Just in case you dont hit it right away heres a quick and small thing you can check that happened to me, I took off the throttle and gasket to better get at my tstat. Anyway a friend was helping and when he put the throttle and gasket back on he didnt tighten the bolts enough and I could actually see the gap between the throttle and plenum. Now that I am thinking of it the gasket itself on your GF's may have a crack or tear which allows to much air to get into the throttle causing higher RPMS, myself I just tighted the bolts and presto mine was fine, hope yours is that easy, from that I learned to look over the simpler things as I tend to think right away its something super serious. Although as stated it could be a vac leak or the IAC. I know another time it did this was a rear vaccum leak near my map or mass sensor in the rear below the coil packs on my 3100. Few things to consider. Good Luck.
