Today right after starting my 01 supercrew and went to take off it all died.No power at all. I noticed in fuse box narrowed it down to power control module relay ticking like flashers were on. Finally got it out ford wants 211 bucks was heading to get it stopped at napa. They had one but it said 10 or 20 amps the owner manual says its a 5 amp relay. Anyway it worked but am wondering if i should get the ford oem or just let it go.Have also noticed ive been hearing a humming or whistlening noise when accellrating some but its 0 degrees in indiana which makes act funny anyway. Any ideas dont want to break down again. THANX DAVE

Hey Dave
If that relay has the same pinout, and its working, it shouldnt cause you any problems. The fact that it is rated for higher current wont hurt a thing, may even be a plus. LOL Just make sure everything else is working and no warning lights are on. Fuses usually blow for a reason, but relays just fail sometimes. If you didnt see any evidence of charred socket, burned wires or contacts, id say youre good to go. I cant believe ford wanted 200 bucks for that relay, it was probably around 20$ at napa wasnt it?

don't worry about having a higher-rated relay, that just means that it can handle more current, not it lets more current through the system, the fuses stop that from happening, if too much current is drawn the fuse for that circuit will blow.

like unclebubbles said, relays just fail sometimes.
