Dragon Force

Alright I'm just now getting tolisten to their songs, and that's the most amazing guitar I've ever heard in any song. Slightly corny, but their songs are obviously not about breaking up with your girlfriend. They remind me of modern day warriors, they look like my cousin who plays D&D though, which must be a great game but I'm not playing it...lol, what do you really think of Dragon Force?

no, don't like them too much. there's better power metal out there, imo.

If I could listen to this music without it being about knights then I'd rather listen to the power metal you aforementioned. But I do know this, these guys plain rock, and they're great racing music in my game GTR2.

it's new epic 80's metal, how can you not like it

they're ok, their musicianship is obviously outstanding but all their songs sound the same and their riffs aren't very good either. but im more of a thrash metal guy myself anyways.

right, but progressive is an entirely different genre. well, as is thrash like i recomended, but its still closer to power metal.
You're right though, i love Dream Theater. Tool, Opeth, and Dream Theater are the kings of Prog right now, imo. Lots of roots in bands like Gentle Giant and King Crimson and Pink Floyd.

I don't mind it. It does remind me of midi files I used to listen to as a kid. Castlevania kind of stuff.

I didn't like the I, Voyager, too low, not high enough for me. I'm definitely digging dream theater right now. It's amazing, you're right.

Offtopic, I also was just watching my friends play guitar hero, and I heard the song Jordan, by buckethead, really catchy guitar playing.

Dragon Force claims to be the fastest band in the world, which is probably right. Sure, they play real fast, but the songs are cheesy, unpersonal, no character, boring and sound just alike. Also the singer is really boring and listening to it for too long makes me break the speakers. And I put out with it all day, since my littlebrother loves them. Also, Fast = good is not true. Gotta have some feel to it.

Fastest band? Not when every note they play is a screwup. It doesnt matter if you can play at the speed of light when its SLOPPY.

Epic? Doesnt sound very epic to me. Mediocre power metal bands are more "epic" than dragonforce. You want epic power metal, its time for some wintersun. at least they can play their songs live.

And actually, i like one of their songs, its "valley of the damned". But i cringe when i hear the pathetic shitfest of a solo. And try counting how many of their songs have the singer sing a little line solo, right after the guitar solo. It gets old really fast.

Just about everything they pride themselves in, many bands do it better. Really hard solos? I think of Nevermore, Stratovarius, Symphony X, COB, Wintersun.. Theres a whole list of them, and i'm still staying in the power metal subgenre. Technicality? I really dont need to list it out. Epic? Just about any power metal band. I have no idea how they can advertise themselves as "extreme power metal" without being embarassed. Whats so extreme about them?

lol, YES, i didn't want to bring up Wintersun again without sounding monotonous, but THATS EPIC, and frankly, that's GREAT musicianship on part of Jari Maenpaa.

You want great musicianship? listen to Norther, Ensiferum, Solefald, Wintersun, etc.
Similar band to Dragonforce that pulls off power metal much better? leave it to the vets like Blind Guardian.
