Due to health and other personal issues, my 58 Chevy project car that has been sitting under a carport in front of my workshop, unattended for a couple years.

Now that I'm "back in the game" I found that my Chevy had become "The Rat Drop Inn"! :disappoin Luckily I had it stripped out except for the firewall pad, yet mama rat and family decided that was enough to make it their bed & breakfast for apparently some time!

The question I have is: What is the best thing to use to remove that "wonderful" smell they left behind? I've heard that open containers of tomato juice is a good cure for a skunk assault. Will that also work on this odor? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Join the club, rodents have damaged several of my cars' interiors.

Tomato juice works on skunk odour because it is a solvent for the musk goo that skunks excrete.

Rat pee and droppings are mostly water soluble, soap and water will eliminate it.
Remove your interior. Look above the headliner to see if the little buggers got up there too.
Wash out the metal floor pans, with dish soap in water and rinse off. Alternatly, Windex and paper towels works well on cleaning up the steel floor, behind the dash, etc. .

Use a brush and plenty of dish soap and water on all carpets and vinyl. Rinse well, but avoid soaking the seat foam. It's a bear to dry. Avoid getting any on the vinyl-backed cardboard panels, use Windex instead.
