1959 Ford Skyliner Set by Step

Here is another commisioned piece I just recently finished. It's definitely not my favorite choice of automobile, but it's something different. I decided to do a step by step of this drawing just to show how I draw my cars, C+C please!

On this drawing, my reference was about the same as what I was going to draw. I didn't trace, but I used a system of measurments to get my first and final outline down.

I begin coloring the shadows, it seems to be a habit that I always start this way.

Next, I get most of the chrome colored in, and begin on the body. By building up layers of colored pencil I can acheive a smooth touch.

A couple hours into the drawing, I finish up on the body work.

Now I'm finished with the body with colored pencils.

About 3 and a half hours later, I finish the rims, and touch up the chrome lining with white gouche, finished!

Looks great. Nice proportions and rendering. What size is this?

The paper I used on this drawing is from a sketchbook, it has been slightly cut down from a 8 1/2 by 12 inch sheet of paper.

P.S.- I rescanned the final image and set it to maximum quality since the other pictures look all pixely.

Man thats really good. I love how you went with the really old school convertibles. Most people opt for drawing newer, sleeker cars.
