As of yesterday my brakes pedal became difficult to depress, the car stops but it's not feeling right. When I do finally stop the jerks about as if I'm hitting the gas with the brake on. If I pop it in neutral the jerking subsides. Also it is idling very rough when parked. I can fix just about anything but my knowledge of the systems in cars is limited. I'd appreciate any ideas.

Thanks.

Sounds like the brake booster is leaking, and or, there is a major vacuum leak which would cause rough idle... brake booster is what the master brake cylinder is attached to, on the firewall under the hood about in line with the steering wheel.. make sure the large hose is still attached to it, maybe it broke or fell off,, follow that hose from the booster to the engine fitting where it is attached, make sure all is hooked up, check the other hoses(vacuum lines).. if the idle is noticeably rough, it's probably a large leak, hissing sound, listen closely, see if you cam\n possibly pinpoint it.. also check the pcv valve and hoses, make sure they're hooked up and in good shape.. located on back valve cover, passenger side of engine, one large hose, one or two small hoses depending on application, those small hoses have a tendency to rot out and crack..

Thanks! Found a broken vacum line. It was actually a T connector that ties three lines together on the passenger side that broke.
