99 passport issues

I have a CEL on with P0125 (insufficient coolant temperature for closed loop fuel control accoring to the code list in the FAQ). I have just done a search in this forum for this code and found someone with an 01 Rodeo with the same code but it says Throttle Position Sensor (weird!). I have had stalling and surging issues with this vehicle for 2 years. I have 142,000 miles on it and I got it with 119,000. The first time I started having issues the CEL came on and I got the P0125 code and another EGR code. I cleaned the EGR and the port that goes into the intake plennum, reset the codes and they both disappeared. But it has periodically had stalling and surging issues (mostly during the colder months). I have recently dropped the fuel tank and by bending the worn contacts on the fuel sending unit fixed the fuel guage but now I am wondering if the contacts actually tell the fuel pump to send fuel or not? I have also put in a new fuel filter (other one was really clogged and car seemed to run fine for about a month until now), checked for IMG leak (no leak) and also put in new plugs. I am going to go ahead and replace the coolant temperature sensor since its only $15 at Autozone. I've always had the feeling that it could be the Throttle position sensor. If the coolant temperature sensor does not fix this I will probably go ahead and replace the TPS ($45 at NAPA). My question is this - Can the coolant temperature sensor and/or fuel sending unit contacts cut fuel off to the motor? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What kinda of plugs did you put in?
It still sounds like a bad intake manifold gasket.

Well, the verdict is in. I made it to my local NAPA and got a new coolant temp sensor. Got the car home and let it cool for a bit. Went out and took 5 minutes to remove the old one and install a new one. Took it for a 30 min. spin and the thing ran 1000 times better than it ever has. Drove it about an hour to get in to work this morning - Running perfect. Guess I should have done this a long time ago. Considering the condition was getting worse every day to the point where it died on me about 5 times from work to NAPA to home yesterday, I'd say I may have fixed the issue. Funny thing about it all is that the symptoms that were happening seem to be the same symptoms of about 10 other things that could be a problem, i.e. IMG, fuel filter, EGR, etc. I have been looking into this board for about a year and a half now and have found it to be quite helpful and I just want to say thanks to all the posters. Amigo-2k, I put in the Champion double platinums and it didnt change how it was acting before one way or another but they were definitely needed compared to the old ones. As far as the IMG, I've spent at least 3 cans of carb cleaner checking around the intakes several times and found that the motor never reacted which is why I ruled out the IMG. I do however plan on putting in new ones at some point when I have time to really get into the plennum and clean it out real good (its pretty nasty inside). I just thought I'd let people know what I have found that seems to have fixed the symptoms (so far) for $15. I plan on checking the gas mileage now that it is running much better and I will post to let people know whether it made a difference or not. Thanks again to Amigo and all other posters on this board that have helped everyone out.
