Alright so I recently posted how I was in an accident with my Firebird etc, hir and run so I have had to pay the deduction myself etc.
Ever since I bought this car, the brakes had been making a weird squealing sound everytime I pressed the brakes but I always postponed it thinking it wasnt important and now after the accident I was just thinking maybe I could had avoided it with better brakes.
So I get my car back on friday and Im planning on getting new brakes, everything that has to do with brakes, the pads and rotor.
Which brand and what type should I get? I dont want anything fancy and expensive, but also I dont want to get the lower end stuff. I want something decent, unexpensive too please. Any opinions?

I just had brand new brakes put on not long ago and they squeak. I think its just something that Chevy's do...My car spots on a dime so I would not worry unless the lil warning things are to the rotor.

the squeak is cuz of the vibration of the brake pads.. its basically a high pitched chatter.. if your brake guys put enough 'brake grease' between the back of the brake pad and caliper it shouldnt squeak..
i bought some (sorta generic) rotors + all 4 wheel ceramic brakes.. installed myself, and my car stops like crazy. i think i need new shocks now cuz i can feel the front end just pitch down when i slam it.. (i tried once or twice.. )

I always run Carbon Metalic Brake Pads ... (Autozone) see about having your rotors turned ... or replace with good Napa rotors. The Carbon Metalics are excelent pads for stopping shorter ... with any advantage comes disadvantages .... 1. dirty rims 2. rotor wears away much faster.
I don't know about you but I can wash my rims once in a while, and I can replace the rotors ... but I can't do body work ... so I made the choice to put them on & have the extra stopping power, but its up to you ... As far as basic replacement pads they are the best I've found.
