2002 Jetta Speaker Wiring Issue

Hey,

I have an issue with my Monsoon stereo. The left side doesn't play as loudly as the right. I have tried swapping out both the head unit and amplifier with similar units and the same issue exists.

I was told to swap the speaker wires on one speaker at a time to see if a speaker had the wrong polarity wires, however, I can't get the metal clips out of the plastic plugs and I don't want to cut/solder unless I have to.

I was looking to see if someone knows what colors go to each speaker and in what order, or if someone knows of some other means to tackle this problem.

Thanks for any help you all can offer.

Regards,
Chrisbo

If you have the factory upgraded monsoon system like my 01 jetta did, have fun. VW makes it very hard to do anything to that system. If you have swapped out the head unit and the amplifier your best bet is to go ahead and replace the speakers, which will probably involve drilling out some rivets, and replacing the speakers with some 6.5 inch rounds. Use self tapping screws and you might need spacers.

If you would rather not go through all this trouble and you are happy with the stock speakers, just cut the wires a few inches before the clips, swap them around until they sound right, and then connect them with butt connectors. Thats the easiest way to go.:smokin:
