i was unfortunate enough to start off with an automatic in my 2001 zx3. it has the 2.0l zetec in it but i wanna do a 5spd conversion. i have done a little research and such and i understand that there is 2 different "models" for the 5spd (i85 and the MTX75) the latter of such i have heard has this funny reverse lockout but thats off the subject. i also read that the MTX75 is usually mated up to the zetec and the i85 is mated to the duratec. i saw earlier today at a junkyard a wrecked zx3 with the duratec and a 5spd. i would need some advice on what would work with what so i dont get a bunch of parts that wont work together. if the i85 (which i'm assuming is in it) would work with the zetec, i might just go ahead and go that route and get the parts for it, which leads to my next ?. what all components will i be needing to pull this off? i already know about that i'm gonna need the trans, pedal assy, shifter assy, master and slave cyl, all the cables/hydraulic lines, and obviously a good bit of free time. but if anyone can give some advice on this it would be greatly appeciated

as far as the swap i have no idea on how much time it takes or what the steps are, but what i do know is the MTX75 was for the Zetec and the I85 was for the 8 valve spi engine, the Duratec engines never came out untill the front end got redone as i believe now all dohc engines are supposed to be "Duratec"

so what you're basically saying is that i need to find a zetec that was wrecked and pull the tranny from it. what other components mite be needed?
