Heater unit swap?

heelo, iv got a 03 expo, my stock heater unit (has the 3 knobs) broke and im about to buy a new unit to replace it. will the upgraded unit (with digital display etc..) connect and work with my harness? is there more involved to swap units?thanks alot...jeramaih
