I recently purchased a 1986 300zx that had thrown a rod. If it hasn't thrown a rod that bad should I try a rebuild kit? Or straight motor swap? I have the VG30E Turbo model. If I do an engine swap would this work? https://www.tigerjapanese.com/product_info.php?products_id=112

The decision to rebuild or replace would depend on what it did break if not a rod. Any damage of that caliber could have easily torn up the block, crank or heads beyond repair.

A Z32 TT engine swap into the Z31 300ZX isn't a drop in. To my knowledge it fits but the real challenge lies and trying to blend to entirely different generations of technology and car design.

width plays a huge role in swapping a Z32 motor into a Z31. if i remember correctly, custom manifolds is a big part of the swap.

try shooting "MikeMan" a PM or email.

hmmm i understood that you already had the engine out and waiting to be dropped in....

but anyway... contact arleyleghorn on ebay... he should have a supply of turbo engines...

if not, post something on 88hybrid.com
