Engine will not stay on! Need help!

Hi, I have a 1993 Honda Prelude Si and recently the engine won't stay on unless I hold the key in the starter and keep it turned all the way. the dashlights have also gone out when I try to start the car, but will stay on only after I have let go of the key and the key is at the I part of the starter. When it's at the II of the starter the dashlights go out. I can't seem to figure it out. The only way the engine stays on is when I turn the key to start the car and hold it there. Besides that, it will just turn off once I let go. Does anyone have a solution?

either your ignition switch is messed up, your started might be fucked, or you're battery could be dead. Or it could be a shorted out wire somewhere. Thats about as specific as I can give ya

Thanks alot. I had already fixed the problem and yes it was the ignition switch. Turns out it was dirty and the metal in the switch weren't making contact. So I pulled everything out and sanded it down. Works great now. Thanks BTW.
