2000 Cherokee Sport Window Problem

The passenger windows in my 2000 Cherokee sport have stopped working, but only from their respective switches. I can still control them from the drivers panel.
They actually stopped working this last summer, but as I am usually the only one in the Jeep it was not an issue. Over the holiday I changed the battery and on a whim I tried the passenger windows from their own switches and they worked...for about 10 min...then stopped.
We are back to the windows only working from the drivers control. It seems odd to me, but any ideas are appreciated.
Thanks.

Not to be insulting, but have you checked the window lockout switch on the driver's door? If you "turned off" the other windows that would be it.

Search this forum...
The driver's window switch lockout goes bad...I had to by pass it on mine.
There are posts that I and other people have made on this.

Yeah, I made sure the lockout switch is not engaged.
I will search the forum, but the strange thing is...why did they work temporarily after the battery change?
Thanks

:dunno: I've hit mine a couple times by accident. If the switch is bad, that's your problem.

I have had the same problem on my 2000 XJ Sport. I troubleshot using the factory manual procedures. It came down to the master control panel being bad (located on the drivers door). Since I was not willing to shell out the probable 100 plus bucks for a new panel, I removed it and dissasembled it (the book says they are non-rebuildable...but you can take them apart). I cleaned all the contacts on the switches and reinstalled......all worked as it should. That was about 6 months ago and I just recently discovered the individual window switches on the doors are once again inop...but they work from the drivers panel....guess I didn't clean it well enough te first time.

Known issue....I took my switch pack apart (don't want to admit how many times) but could never fix it. I jumped the harness in the left kick panel area...done deal now...
EDIT:
In this diagram, Jump from C1 Tan to C2 Yellow...problem is at 3 and 4 at right hand side.

FIG. 40 Do this: Jump the Tan...12V 30A feed to the yellow feed for the other three switches in this diagram.
**Solder and heat shrink insultation recommended. I did it in the kick panel and cut off the yellow from the switch...make sure you tape it...in case it 'goes live' from the switch

I have the same exact problem with my 99 sport. The only difference is that with mine, all I have to do is nudge the door lock button slightly while a pasenger holds the window control. After that it will continue to work until the drivers door is opened.
I also have a good friend and off road buddy that has a 98 XJ, his passenger controls only work when he hits his drivers door.
The problem is under the drivers panel. The contacts wear down, becomse loose, or just simply give. XJ's are infamous for it.

Just did the jump from the tan to yellow wire today. So easy. I was actually surprised how fast it was and I just knew my windows would still not work, lol, but they did. Now I don't have to let windows down for anyone.
