89 ford f350 ball joint check?

hi

does anyone know how the ball joints are supposed to be on the ford f350 1989

im looking at mine and i see alot of grease all around them
they are not sealed up like the honda ball joints

what are they supposed to look like down there?

put a floor jack under the spot where the ball joint is, then jack your truck up until the tire just gets off of the groung, then put some kind of lever under your tire, when you lift the tire up and down there should be no more than 1/4 inch of play between your ball joint and the connector, if there is a lot of movement the ball joint should be replaced. good luck
