I have a 97 Grand Prix GT with 90k. The electric windows have always went up and down slowly, but this winter they aren't even moving due to the cold weather. What's the matter? Can I fix this myself, with very little car knowledge and if so what will I need?

Can you hear the motor trying to move? It could be frozen in place. If not you'll need to replace the window regulator. It's pretty easy to do, just search the forum for window motor regulator.

The window moves down very slowly when its warm out but it sometimes gets stuck or stops on the way up and you have to try it again a few minutes later then it finally goes up.

I have had the same problem. Mine was the steel cabling in the slide assembly. Take the door panel off and you can look right at it and see some of the cable. You cant replace the cable but you can replace the slide assembly in about 15 minutes. Only three bolts hold it in place.
I had to go to a junk yard and find one for $100. Hope this helps.

I herd it could also be the voltage output and the motor wearing out, in your case maybe not though, i could be wrong.

I AM HAVING SOME TROUBLE WITH MY WINDOWS TOO. IT IS ALSO A 1997. I JUST GOT IT. THE WINDOWS WILL NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN BUT YOU CAN HERE THE MOTOR TO THE WINDOW. YOU CAN HERE IT MAKING THE NOISE TO GO UP OR DOWN. I THINK IT IS JUST OFF TRACK OR SOMETHING. I AM GOING TO TRY TO FIX THIS SATURDAY.

I FOUND SOME AWESOME DEALS ON WINDOW REGULATORS ON EBAY. (IF YOU NEED THEM):grinyes:
