Oil in Cylinder!! What can cause this/how to fix??

Hello, I have a 95 civic with the 1.5 non vtec d15b7. I was driving home the other day, and my car started running like shit, like it was only on three cylinders. I got it home and checked it out. I pulled out my spark plug wires, and there was oil in my number 3 cylinder, all over my spark plug. I asked around and found out that the valve cover gromets on the inside tend to go bad and that if they aren't sealed, oil would get in. I replaced them, as well as the valve cover gasket, and new spark plugs, but it still runs with a miss like its only got 3 cylinders. Anyone have any suggestions or heard of this type of thing before? My cylinder was full of oil all over my spark plug. Any help. Thanks.

Clean the plug and the end of the wire with break cleaner to get all the oil off. It's probably just left over oil causing a discontinuity.

I cleaned out the cylinder with compressed air before putting it back together. It seemed pretty dry, but there could have been some in there still. I let it run for like 10 minutes to let it burn the oil out, but maybe there could still be some there. What kind of brake cleaner are you talking about? Are you saying to just wipe it down with it or soak it or what. Thanks.

check your plug wires. Possibility. Maybe cap and rotor too. Oh plugs too.

I just put brand new plugs in it and it already has new wires. I was thinking about the dis. cap and rotor too, maybe theres something wrong with it. But I have one of those clear covrs on it, and it looks like all of the points are making consenstent connections.

They may make consistant connection but do all of them spark? A little bit of oil wouldn't keep the engine from running right so that may not be the problem. Take the wire loos from the spark plug and hold it close to a clean metal part on the engine. If you see sparks then you've got fire up to the spark plug. Clean the spark plug like AudioGuy suggested (you only want to wipe it down) and put everything back together. If you still have a problem with a misfire or a dead cylinder then you may need to check the fuel injector for the #3 cylinder to see if the oil clogged it.

I heard of the clear distributor caps go bad. Try a oem cap for fun.
