Car dead not starting

How can I check if my starter is good enough because my car is not starting.

Car Year- 1993
Car type- Chevrolet

What sound does it make when you turn the key?

There is no sound when I turn the key.

Turn on the headlites, have a helper turn the key to crank, how do the headlites react? If the lites go out or almost, then it is usually the battery or cables. Check the battery voltage, clean the cables on both ends.

If the lites stay bright, no reaction, with the key turned to crank, then there is an open circuit to the starter. The smaller purple wire at the starter solenoid should be hot with the key turned to crank, if it isn't, you will need to backtrack the circuit to the neutral switch or clutch switch, depending on your tranny.

Have you tried getting a jump from another vehicle, with jumper cables?

I have the same problem with a 99 cavalier, the only way it will start is with a jump from another car right now, and it really drains the power from the other car. When I try to start my car everything goes dim and the starter clicks like the battery is dead. What does that mean?

I have tried getting a jump, but I did it with a booster not another vehicle does it matter? Also I will try the lits trick thanks.
