2002 cv blowing starter fuse

OK 2002 cv and it was driving fine pulled up to the store shut it off and now you replace the fuse for the start turn the key and it blows the fuse instantly ??

I'm not familiar with your vehicle (I'm in the UK and we don't have them here) but in the absence of any other replies I'll make a few comments until somebody else comes along who knows the vehicle.

The heavy-duty feed from the battery positive terminal will connect to the starter motor via the starter solenoid. All of those items - the cable itself, the solenoid and the starter, will not be fused so your problem won't be found there. The problem is a short-circuit somewhere in the rest of the circuit which is responsible for activating the solenoid. Exactly what that circuit consists of, I don't know, but it will at least comprise the fuse, the ignition switch, the transmission range sensor (which only allows the engine to start when in neutral or in park) and then also any other sensors which may be in the circuit. Do you have a workshop manual and wiring diagram for the car? If so, then follow the circuit from the starter fuse, via the ignition switch, transmission range sensor, and wherever else it connects to before it arrives at the solenoid 'S' terminal - somewhere along that path you have a short-circuit.

An open-circuit would also have caused the starter to not operate, but that would not have blown fuses, so that's how we know you're looking for a short. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I was reading your post again, and I notice that you haven't specified at which key position exactly the fuse blows, and that's an important factor - I had assumed it was when you turned the key to the START position that it blew but on reading it again I see that that may not be the case.

I assume your switch has four positions: OFF - ACC - RUN - START

At what position does the fuse blow?

If it doesn't blow until you reach the START position then the fault is as described above - somewhere in the path from fuse to starter solenoid 'S' terminal.

If it blows in either the ACC or RUN positions then it's likely that other electrical circuits are also fed via that same fuse, and the fault is actually in there rather than in the starting circuit.

If you have a wiring diagram then take a look and see what other circuits are fed from that fuse.

If you don't have a wiring diagram, and if the fuse is indeed blowing in either the ACC or RUN positions then turn the key to the relevant position and check to see what other circuit(s) are not working. I'm thinking about things like powered windows, powered seat adjustment, radio, clock, wipers, etc.

well i think it will be the park - neutral circut it worked fine for a few days then again started popping the fuse ! only pop when you try to start/crank motor
