Electrical problem 1993 Royale

My 93 Royale's gas gauge starts to go haywire when it gets down to a 1/4 tank of gas. Prior to this problem the computer failed, the cause I believe to be a short in the system. The fuel pump stopped working, was one of the results from the computer. I have replaced the fuel pump and checked all the grounds that I know about. I have started to suspect the gauge. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this problem.

Thanks

When the fuel pump was replaced, the pump and the fuel level float & sender could have been damaged. Check the wiring in and around the fuel tank, the guage itself is only reacting to the signal from the float & sender in the gas tank. The fuel level float & sender should be replaced if you don't find any other problems.

Good Luck!!

thats defenitly the sednding unit
usually when replacing the fuel pump you shudda replaced the sending unit also since it's a "attached unit" it's starting to fail

:)

Do it safely

Happy Motoring
