Hi All,
Please, I need advice. I found a 1972 Beetle in mint condition. Owner is asking $8500. I'm new to this board and really want to know if it would be worth that much. It is really beautiful, won some awards in shows, etc. It has 200 miles on the engine, been rebuilt from the ground up. I know it's tough to answer without seeing it, but your best guess is appreciated! Thanks in advance
Phil

honestly, i would say no.
i own a 1973 standard beetle. it's no ground-up resto car. unless it's got air bags, a $10,000, custom paint, rims, etc etc, then it really probably isn't worth that much.
there's entirely too many late model bugs around (not much love for standard or supers around). if it were a split oval or something, i'd say jump on it.
show cars are nice and all. if you just want it as a show car, then by all means. if you plan on driving it, WAY too much.
head over to the samba and peruse the classifieds. there's tons of late models for under $2000. most in superb condition. great community there too, i recommend you sign up and get some more opinions over there.
