94 z24 cavalier tranny problem

Hi, i hope you can help me. My speedo says i'm going 20k when i let the clutch out but the car goes nowhere, just makes a grinding noise. Thinking it might be the cv axel, Any info please, and if it is the cv how hard is it to replace. Thanx
