same here...and it was also the timing belt. there are a couple of things it could be. i wouldn't suggest just buying a new fuel pump until you're sure that's the problem.
check your distro. for sure!

did you take the timing belt out? in my case it busted a tooth and we didn't find it until we took it out. and what about the distro? did you check that? check your ecu...it is very possible to get error codes without the check engine light flashing on....

but did the samething happen to you guys. cause he said the he was driving and the car started slowing down even while he was giving it full gas, and it slowed to a stop.
first it cant be the timing belt coming off cause then the car would have just died, not slow to a stop.
all you guys saying distrubutor, but if the distrubutor went out, wouldnt the car just die, and not come slowly down to a stop ? even if the distributor was the problem, i would think the car would start to miss as it slows down.
dont get me wrong, i am not saying you guys are wrong. i just wanna know how the distributor can cause this, so i have a future reference in case this happen to me. i dont like to be told this part broke you gotta replace it, i wanna know what happen witht the part to cause it to break so i understand it better, and maybe prevent it in the future.

Dizzy breaks, or goes out = Zero to little spark.

where exactly would i look on the distributor? all the belts work... i had my friend try to start the car while i saw the belts turn and smelled some type of fume but no engine startup...

check the dipstick for water. if you headgasket is blown your oil will be real thin. mine did the same thing and it's the head gasket. that could be the fumes you smell. also you wouldn't be able to see if the timing belt was broke unless you took the valve cover off.
another thing is when the fuel pump relay gets old it can get bad. when it's real hot the "goo" inside expands and covers the contacts. you might want to try irt at night and it might just work. probably not though:smoka:

i think i found my problem, was checkin over eveyrthing today... was checking the spark plugs to see if they were bad... well i first pull of the last cap and Bam oil splurts out... im like ok... so i pull out the third... splat oil again... the second splat oil.... the first one had no oil... im like wow this is great my seals are bad.... so anyways i want to drain the oil, whats the best route to doing this you guys? i just wanna see if the reason my car slowed down to a stop was the oil and not the fuel pump.... thanks alot....
