Replacing windshield wiper motor 99 Crown Vic

Can anyone tell me how to replace the wiper motor on my 99 Crown Vic? My manual (Haynes) makes it sound easy by removing the linkage, removing the mounting bolts, disconnnecting the electrical connector and removing the motor. My question is does the bracket that the motor mounts to also have to be removed or does something else on the motor have to be removed. I don't have room to get my hands underneath to remove the motor from below. Any help will be greatly appreciated. By the way, I am having an intermittent operation problem and the blades do not assume the park position when they are turned off and I am assuming that the problem is in the park switch. Thanks.

You hve to remove the entire plastic piece the motor bolts too. It is fairly simple to do, you just have to find all the fasteners. There are a few clips that hold the 2 pieces together and there are about5 or 6 screws holding the plastic housing in place. The wiper is held to the plstic housing with 3 bolts. Just take your time and you should be OK.

Usually if the wipers do not park in the park position, it is usually the motor. It donly tkes about an hour if you have never done one before. Not too bad a job. Just remeber to unhook and re-hook the washer hoses.

I'll try to get back on it and get the job done Monday. It has to be soon, because the safety inspection is due by the end of this month. I don't drive the car very much. There is only about 85000 miles on it and its a 99. Thanks again for the help.

I finally got around to replacing the wiper motor and things went pretty good. It took longer to remove the arms than the rest of the job. It seems that the clip on the driver side arm didn't want to disengage. Anyway, the motor was the problem and a rebuilt one from autozone cured it. Thanks for the info!
