Has anyone ever noticed how when our cars come to a stop ( automatic, GT), that you hear a growling sound from the exhaust headers? Its only at idle when the car is cold and the idle revs are high. The noise sounds gurgly( the car has to be in drive to hear it). Its most noticable if you brake torque the car........my other question is, can we install a new header setup to get rid of the sound?

I highly doubt the noise is caused by your exhaust...it is probably just because the car is cold, oil is a little thicker, and everything needs to warm up (including the trans). Every car is louder than normal when it is cold, and there really is nothing you can do about it other than not drive hard until the temp comes up.

the only problem with your theory is that during the summer time this happens as well, even after a long road trip ( 100 miles distance...90mph whole way...80 degrees)

well you know what then...looks like thats just what the car sounds like. Unless you are noticing something change, it must just be the way the car souds. Dot worry about it.

thanks for that little bit of info, i guess I forgot what my car sounded like before I replaced my motor mounts. That is another possibility...mine sounded more like mice in the engine bay that gurgeling or whatever, but I guess it's a possibility that the mounts are creaking and thats what you are hearing. The easiest ones to check are the front roll stop and the engine side mount. The front roll stop is probably shot know it or not because it's a piece of shit from the factory, and if the side engine mount is shot then I would replace all 4 with Deyeme mounts.

90% of the time its the front and rear mounts.

The rear mount is a PAIN IN THE ASS to get to. The front one, and the engine side mount are the easiest to get to and replace, the trans side is easy to get to, but tricky to get out (at least the manual trans), and like I said...that rear stop is hell. 2 people make it easier for the rear.

i did my rear one, and i had a little help it's not easy and you need a long ass breaker bar to get it done.

I did all 4 with the firm mounts, and the rear and trans were a pain. The trans would have been easy, but the bolts were all fucked up and I couldnt get the old one out, or the new one in. Pain in the ass, but I was finally able to get it. I dont even remember what I had to do to get the rear one, but I do know it sucked.
