Student seriously hurt in fracas after toga party


BARRIE (Special) — A toga party turned tragic early yesterday when a Georgian College student suffered serious injuries after he was run over by a car in the drive-through of a McDonald's restaurant.

The incident began when a group of students dressed in their togas after a back-to-college party decided to stop for hamburgers at the Bayfield St. McDonald's in Barrie around 2:30 a.m., Barrie city police said.

"Someone made unflattering comments about their togas and an altercation broke out," Constable Janet Schefter said.

By the time police arrived, about 20 people, many of them wearing togas, were involved in a brawl.

One of the toga wearers who had been run over by a car was rushed to Barrie's Royal Victoria Hospital and was later airlifted to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries.

Police, who did not release the victim's name, are investigating whether he was deliberately run down or whether it was an accident, said Schefter.

Two other people who were hurt in the brawl were treated in hospital and released.

Several people were arrested but as of late yesterday no charges had been laid.


Geez, I know that guy, he's in my program. He's also one of the few New Brunswick students. Also it was most certainly not an accident, he was backed over, and then driven over directly after. Fuck I hate stupid people :mad::mad:

Yes he should. I'm not sure how the charges stand as of now. If the guy doesn't make it, then it would have to move up to murder.

Me and the fellas were at a local club Saturday night, and when we got out there was a guy in the street with people around him. Apparently, he was talking smack to someone and they backed up and crushed his legs. I could not tell form looking at him, but I was pretty much totally buzzed at the time. It's some crazy motha phockers around here these days.

Attempted Murder? that's a good start...add to that list...
