no start on 06 sonata

I was looking at buying an 06 Sonata today from a used lot and the sales guy couldn't get the car to start. It sounded like the battery was dead, he tried boosting it but the same thing the sound of a solenoid clicking without the engine turning over. Another sales guy came out and fooled with the locks and the car turned over and started, he said that this was a security feature. Is this true? Does the Sonata have programming that does not allow it to turn over if the unlock function is not operated first? The car had been sitting in the lot unlocked.
I am seriously considering this car as it was nice once it was running but I am concerned about the initial no start, so I need to know if these sales guys are full of it or just not aware? Also I am interested in any other coments about this car, it is the 4cly model with the abs package which includes the abs, alloys, fog lights and sunroof.
Thanks in advance.
