Hi, I'm a newbie here, although I've been lurking for a while... Thought I'd post some pics of my most recent - Tamiya's 1/24 Mini Cooper S Mk 1.
I've been modelling for a long time, but mostly straight out of the box. Hanging around here inspired me to stretch out!

This one contains many firsts for me. I used primer on the body - I'd never used primer before. D'oh! I attempted to superdetail the engine bay - added some hoses, part of the carburettor, wired the ignition and dashboard. And I used a black wash on the panel lines - not that you can really see it in that colour! I also used future on the windows, which I'd never used before, and fabricated some seat belts out of black ribbon and a coke can, plus some catches from stretched sprue and some styrene. Not bad, but I think I can do better. And I added the things that open the rear windows, and the bonnet stay, too.
The union jack on the roof caused me a few headaches... I tried printing out a mask onto printer labels, which worked... except that I couldn't get the sticky stuff off the paint without ruining it. Two baths in the brake fluid later, I printed a stencil onto clear actete (an overhead transparency), cut the sections out and penciled the design on the roof - then masked with tamiya tape. That was a little more successful!
Looking at the photos, I can see my detail painting needs a lot of work. But it was fun! Please let me know what you think, and what I can do better!
Dylan.

First of all, welcome to AF. What a great model. I really like all the extra effort and all the firsts you put into this little beauty. From what I can see, the engine bay looks very good.

Cool little model. The union jack on the roof looks impressive, well worth the efforts you put into it.The engine area looks very nice as well and such a nice colour you have used for the interior. It seems to compliment the body colour very nicely indeed.

I'm just starting on Aoshimi's Back to the Future I Delorean - My wife loves that movie. I'll be starting a WIP thread sometime soon: when I've done enough to post a couple of pics!
Thanks for the comments, guys! Helps to keep you inspired!

You painted that Union Jack? WOW! It looks great. I thought for sure you'd used a decal for the new Minis or something. Awesome. The engine detail looks awesome from here, as well. You're certainly on the way to some great models, this one is killer!
