03 focus rear breaks

I will be helping my son replace rear break lining on a 03 focus zx5 is there anything I should know before attempting to do this job. also dose anyone have a manual on how to do the job

If you are doing lining and wheel cylinders make sure the cylinders are ford and not after market. After market wont push in as far and make it hard to put the drum back on, also the shoes are self adjusting so make sure you have the self adjuster in the adjusted down before you put the drum on.

Also make sure you tighten the nut that holds on the drum to 174 Ft LBS.

See if the counter person at the Ford dealership will copy the appropriate pages out of the factory service manual for you if you buy the parts there. Some modern braking systems have a special procedure for bleeding the brakes and compressing cylinders. A Haynes' repair manual is available for around $20- at major chain auto parts stores.
