M30 Transmission question...

Hi, I have a similar problem with my automatic 1990 Infinity M30. The car will only drives forward in D and 2 so it's only driving in 2nd gear. Can't go in reverse. There is no difference between P R N or 1, can't feel a shift or anything, it's like the car is in park in all of them. In N I can only push the car forward, but not in reverse. In R I can hear a slight rattling noise. The transmission fluid seems fine and doesn't smell burnt. Would this problem need a new transmission? rebuild? or could it be somthing else? Any help would be appreciated.
