Unless the WS6 driver really sucks, you have no chance. The LS1 WS6 is running mid to low 13's stock, and is trapping at 103mph to 105mph. He could MAYBE even run high 12's if it has an M6 tranny and it is a strong car, but it's unlikely. Just blot on a 100 shot, and that should get you in front of him. :D

Gears will lower you e.t. some but not enough to run with the WS6. Since you have an A4 I would get a new convertor instead of gears. You will get more e.t. gains and get you alot closer to the WS6. Go to www.convertor.cc and talk to them about what size stall to get. It would take an LT1 full exhaust (i.e. longtubes not shorties, y-pipe, and catback) CAI, and some weight reduction to run with a majorityof stock LS1's.

If you do go with gears (3.73 are best for A4) run him from a 35mph roll, especially if he has an A4 also. Hold it in 1st gear, and as soon as you punch it push it into drive, the tranny will not shift till redline. Since it's "who has more gear and torque" from a slow roll. LT1's have a little bit more low end grunt than the LS1, so with gears you should jump out on him and hopefully he will not be able to catch you.

Sorry but you will get smoked by a ws6. But don't worry, just compare the cost of the cars.

Actually, he won't get smoked...

You should lose, stock for stock. If he is stock however (no lid, exhaust, or anything) and you have a couple of things and a torque converter you could probably keep up, for a bit at least (what i've heard and noticed is off the line an LT1 can run with LS1's fine, but as you get to the upper end of the RPM's the LS1's pull more, it might be the cam in the LT1 but i dunno what the stock cam #'s are).

Anyways, get a converter and 3.73's, then you'll need some good tires. If you do that you'll smack some ass, especially off the line. If you are racing a moded LS1, its gonna be harder depending on mods. Either way, all in all you should be close together.

what do u think i would run with the mods u just said

You would be low 13, or high 12 with that most likely. I am just guessing, don't take my word for it. I know LS1's capability a lot better than i know LT1's abilities, but i above is my guess.

Generally stock LT1's are even with a stock LS1 through middle of 2nd gear, if both drivers get an even launch. Once third gear hits wave goodbye to LS1 he will pull hard. It's a combo of the higher lift cam in the LS1 and those amazing LS1 heads, is why they pull so hard in the upper RPM's. You won't find aftermarket heads for the LT1 that flow the same as stock LS1 heads (and keep up the velosity) without going to some very expensive AFR heads.

Yes gears and a stall will get you mid MAYBE even low 13's. but to hook up you better have at least Nitto's out back. There is a 50rwhp (more or less) difference between a stock LT1 and a stock LS1. And I have yet to see a 2000 and up LS1 dyno less than 300rwhp. Just get a 100 wet shot and forget about it. :D

Heh, spray all your worries away! :)

Just get drag radials, good converter, and gears. You should do fine.

Gears + Stall + Traction(ie. tires) = So long LS1!:D

well, from a stop...but if you run an LS1 from a roll with just gears, converter, and drag radials it won't be an advantage.

will the converter make it hard to drive or give m worse gass millage?

From a slow roll (30mph or less) it will still help. But from a highway roll you will be killed. Your ET will be equal but your MPH in the 1/4 will still be 4mph or so slower that the LS1.

Gas mileage will go down some, but driveability will be about the same as long as you don't get some huge stall like 3,500rpm.

Your car will still roll when you let off the brake, and accelerate below 2,400rpm's.
