I know there are alot of these going around, but hey man, models are hard o find these days. So I grabbed a fresh xacto blade, cleaned my cutting mat, and started the next model in my "To Do" pile.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/IMAG0318.jpg
So. . To start, of course I wasnt gonna build it straight from the manual. I have been watching people mod their cars to make them completely different from the one thats supposed to be built from the box, that I wanted to try the same. So I started with some putty and some styrene sheets.
Days and headaches later I came up with this . . .
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/IMAG0310.jpg
And more styrene . .
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/IMAG0317.jpg
And the front again . . .
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/IMAG0315.jpg
I know it looks like crap. Its the camera. I dont have my other good camera so im using my low budget 4 megapixel cam. Ill post better pics tomorow.
Feedback, constructive criticism, and flaming is welcome.
Ill keep ya updated. . .

So as I was getting ready to primer my front bumper to check for any minor flaws in the scratchbuild, then CRACK! Bumper cracked and detached from where i made the modifications . . . so back to the work bench i went.
I decided to redo the front seeing that the one I already had done was all crooked.
So here it is without putty to smoothen it out . . .
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/000_0019.jpg
As you can see I still need some putty to fill in the cracks and the openings.
Since I have no more putty :shakehead I decided to go on to the next thing.
I wen through many different shapes of styrene and chose this for the side skirts . . .
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/000_0026.jpg
Perfect width, length, and height for the side skirts. I cut them to length and glued em in to the body.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/000_0022.jpg
Later on ill purchase some putty and mold the skirts to look a little bit like they belong to the body.
And here is where the car stands so far. . .
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/000_0025.jpg
Since my vacation is over I have no more time to finish the car. I get the day of on friday and its payday, that means i need to head over to the hobby shop and purchase some paints, styrene, cutting tools i need, putty, glue (believe it or not i use it up really quick) and a new kit.
By the way, any suggestions on what kind of rims, and paint scheme is welcome.
Thanx for looking.

So I looked and looked and looked and, nope, found not a sinlge chunk of leftover putty. So after stressing a bit I went outside to my car to have a ciggarete. In the center console I usually keep em so when I bend over to reach for them I notice the two tamiya stars. I reach over to look and there is a freaking box of Tamiya Smooth Type Putty! I remember I bought 3 boxes the last time I went supplies shopping but never found it!
So I happily cut up some putty, and made me a nice batch. On to the bumper! I didnt want to get alot of it on the bumper though. Its my first time scratchbuilding as you can see. So I applied a bit first to see how it turned out.
This is what I came up with . . .
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/Progress1.jpg
As you can see, I still need to fill in some spots, and sand and carve some edges.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/Progress2.jpg
Its ok though. Friday I gots no work and I get paid! As soon as I pick up my check on friday, im off to the bank to cash it, on to the hobby shop for supplies, and imma work on this till sunday!
. . . how is the engine like? it is a whole block by itself or a tub? looks forward to see more of this one.
No. The kit comes with an engine which you need to assemble, piece by piece. The block, head, intake manifold, exhaust manifold etc.
Not much done on the motor. Ive only assembled some of it.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/S13K20.jpg
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/CherryPickerMotorDrop.jpg
Yea. I always get models with engine detail. Curbside are good kits too, dont get me wrong. But I feel cheated when I can assemble the suspension, body, lights, but can't assemble the motor.
My 2 :2cents: '. Anyway. Progress comming soon.
Criticism and help is welcome.

So Ive been itching to finish this kit but work is just too much for me right now. I just got back from vacation, and since I was gone from work, they needed the help bad. So I've been layin down some overtime to recover lost time. See, I work the second shift, 3:30PM to 11:30PM, and dont have much time to work on it. I've ordered supplies and barely recieved them on tuesday.
But now Im back up to speed, and with some new goodies as you can see here:
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/Supplies.jpg
Ah . . . like christmas morning or something.
So, the bumper is almost finished. Its in the curing stage right now. Don't have pictures of it at the moment it stands. I do have this one I took before I put it in my little oven for curing:
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModifiedFrontS13.jpg
Yea. I have filled in the holes and cracks with the basic putty. You should see my fingers :shakehead but I wont get into that now.
I also modified the hood. One thing about the hood. I was dreaming about how to do it at work and stuff. I drew diagrams on like order forms at work and stuff, when I was certain that this hood ( called the drift style) had only 2 vents. When I cut them out and refrenced on an import tuner magazine I had, I noticed that there were 3 vents on the drift style hood, not 2. I was gonna take em off and make 3 out of styrene, but they were already glued, puttied, and sanded. Anyway, this is how the hood looked before I put it in the curing box:
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModifiedHoodS13.jpg
While the "goods" bake in my little kitchen, I painted the rims:
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/S13RimsAndTires.jpg
I also started a bit on the chassis. Painted some basic details like exhaust and stuff:
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/S13Chassis.jpg
That's all I was able to do tonight. I'll maybe post up some pics tomorow if I have time (I might go to work.)
Thanx for looking!

Really? Its the original bumper size. I just glued a thin styrene sheet at the bottom. Maybe the angle makes it look too big.
Anyway thanx for looking!

After some really annoying moments and about 5 ciggarete packs later, Ive done pnly a couple of things.
First of all I needed some stuff so I went to the local hobby shop for some stuff i thought i needed.
The seats I wanted to make em the recaro style seats.
I wanted to do this:
http://www.tcklineracing.com/SUEDEREDJERSEYRED.jpg
To these:
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AFModelPictures001.jpg
So I purchased Faux Fabric by Scale Motorsports.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AFModelPictures007.jpg
This is by far, the best paint I have ever bought! this paint is just soo good. Dash and seats are done with a quickness.
So alittle fauxfabrix on the seats and were near close to the recaro style:
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AFModelPictures010.jpg
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AFModelPictures008.jpg
Now those are nice seats!
Next I got onto the body. The front bumper is near completion. All thats needed is a little sanding and some small putty fixes, no big deal. So I got on the sideskirts and the rear bumper. Putty is in the curing stage as we speak but I got some snaps of it before I put it to cure.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AFModelPictures015.jpg
So all I need to do now is wait for the putty to harden and off to sanding the body down for priming.
Just for fun I added in the seats and took a dryfit shot.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AFModelPictures016.jpg
Looks ok so far. Color has been chosen. White with scale motorsports carbon fiber hood. The wheels im thinking of ordering some red Advans but I havent decided yet.

Quick update. Nothing big, just finished sanding down some of the areas of the body. I painted the hood black so I can get an Idea of how the hood is gonna look with fiber deacals. Im kinda not so sure about the rear bumper. I may rebuild it. As for now, the bumper, sides and rear just need a little sanding and the body is ready for primer, paint and decals. Ill keep ya updated.

Thanx! Yeam I'm trying not to make it, well . . . "box shaped." But it's my first time modifying the body with putty. The front bumper and side skirts came out ok, its the rear bumper that's bothering me. Any tips would be welcomed.
Few small updates though . . .
The interior was painted last night. Still got some parts to touch-up, but it's nothing big.
