The SES light comes on but only after the car is warmed up and only after hard acceleration and then letting off the gas. The mechanic checked the codes and said it was a bad EGR valve. Had them replace the EGR valve and the problem persists. They also did complete tune up (plugs, wires, LOF, tranny service, etc) so I don't think it's any of that stuff. Lately the car surges when accelerating hard. I can drive the car around town all day and it does just fine but if I get into it or it has to pull like going up hill, the problem rears it's ugly head. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to AF.
Wonder if they cleaned the tube/port for the EGR...
IF they didnt it still can effect performance.
Could be a vacum leak, or your fuel pumps not up to par,
could be some other emissions component thats starting to fail.
When was the fuel filter last changed?
If it hasnt with in the last 30-40k miles I'd change it and see if it helps.
Also the IAC can cause some surging.
Its located on the side of the TB, sometimes a good cleaning clear it up.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply and ideas. I think they replaced the fuel filter but I'll definately check that out. I con't imagine they would replace the EGR valve but not check the ports to see if they were plugged....well maybe I can imagine them doing that. I'll also check the vacuum hoses. Thanks again.
