I am looking for a diecast model of the McLaren F1. What is a pretty good price for one? Are there any good websites to order them off of?

You mean one like this, i found this one off of ebay, and for a steal of a price. there are tons of sites you can get them off of. just do a search for like 1:18 model cars on google or something, you are bound to find something there.

I was looking at some pictures of the Maisto Mclaren on the Ashville website. Is that a piece of tape over the doors? And does the model come with the stand? what color do you think looks the best?

I don't remember wether thier was tape or not, probably for shipping protection. I think there is a stand though.

Hi there...
I would suggest that you look at McLaren made by UT-models, they are really nice models and in my opinion they are nicer than the Maisto ones.
I lovethem so much that I have thre diffrent ones...

While I respect your opinion. UT has more of a variety of models. But Maisto models have more detail in that they have working suspension, etc. I have both company's in my collection and the one thing that I really hate about UT is that the detail that they go through is not sufficient. Not to mention that for what they charge for their models, you'd think that at least they could make the suspension effort. I have more maisto than UT(but that will change soon) and enjoy the level of detail that they put in their cars. Just my .02.

i have never seen a plastic mclaren model, but i just recently saw a 360 you can put together. and i think a dark blue would look best on the mclaren then black. but i still love my dark green. the only gripe i have about my Maisto is that they don't have brakes:confused: for me that is the best part.

That's true. I have to agree with you there. Also, their way of making hoses look real is kinda bad. In some cases they are not even realistic looking like painting them red:confused:. But in the higher ranked, more expensive Maisto models, they do make the brakes and more detail to the engine.

I have really been searching hard for a Maisto McLaren. The only site that had anything close was scale18.com, I got a McLaren made by a company called Guiloy. It's pretty high quality, but my complaints are:
1. ANYONE WHO IS BUYING THIS MODEL, BE CAREFUL: On the site it CLEARLY states "McLaren F1 prototype". In actuality, this is a McLaren F1 LM prototype!
2. It is hardly an F1 LM. The exhaust is different than on any F1 LM to my knowledge, and worst of all, the front hood scoop is the same as on the regular F1! The F1 LM is supposed to have tweaked dynamics, and I know this is a prototype, but even on real F1 LM prototypes the hood scoop is different.
3. Unrealistic colors. I bought the only color they had in stock, which was red. As we all know, F1 LM's are all made in papaya orange. If I had known it was an LM, I wouldn't have gotten it.
Bottom line: The exhaust and hood scoop suggest it's an F1. The box, front grill and spoiler suggest it's an F1 LM. So, what really is it?
I'm looking for a Maisto McLaren F1 in any color. I want the total price including tax and shipping and whatever to be under $50. eBay is known to have frauds and stuff, and usually the ones on eBay can soar up to about $90.
Where can I find a Maisto McLaren F1 for under $50 without going on eBay?

The last sentence of my post said I do not want to use eBay. I was bidding on a 1:18 McLaren F1 there and the price went up to $91. :frown:
