Well this morning walking the dammn dog I had this idea:

Who is/re the modeler/s that inspired more you? The one that pushed up your skills. The one (or more) that you respect a lot.

I guess also this thread could be useful for understand our cultural backgroung (well speaking of modelling ;) ) : they haven't the needed of thanks LOL

What give me motivation to open such topic is some memories like Mike's lathe and some few other, like RobiJ and Prini etc.

oki. let me start ;)

the one that switched my skills to a decent level was Alex Kustov, trough his italianhorses: there I learned the work to do and in a close time I seen my skills increased. Well I guess you know his site!

other people that push my skills up (well not directly, seeing their jobs)

Roberto Quaranta: for the perfection research: no compromise way. I try to have in mind every time I touch something but is hard to me. www.robertoscave.it (http://www.robertoscave.it)

Alessandro Prini: enthusiasm, details details details details (LOL) , creative usage of "not modelling stuff" like industrial supply. I have to say that Prini and Roberto was ever super-helpful to give advices.

Machining:

Andy, for sure, and Scale-Master, Rob, Mike and Hiroboy.

PEtching: the awesome job of Jaykay640.

Well at this point I was tempted to clear all, becouse I remember a thread months ago with a similar topic.... LOL

Well let people say, I'll like know who're Phil's master, Andy, Rob... not only curiosity, would be helpful to increase modelling culture here.

This is one interesting subject, I wanted to answer in the above mentioned thread but it was not straight enough to make "name" kind of answer.

Here is my modelling start

One person that brought internet modelling to my attention and my first mentor is Zeljko Segin (aka Hrmodeler)

Second is like yours www.italianhorses.net, allthou I don't know Alex and never even made any conversation to him, I feel like I know him for ages :D

Third would be Phil (aka Rallyraider), one great guy and great modeller.

and now in my fresh modlling period I would say Robrex, RobiJ, Prini, Bil Attrige, Jay, Steve (aka Hiroboy) and not to forget my Ferrari friend Alex (aka Ales).

Of course I love your and Stevenski's way of makeing threads and of course taste in modelling subjects and vine :D

And when I will move to a next level (read 43) this guy will be my god :D

I'm sorry gio I'm not Phil, Andy, Rob... But I really want to bump this thread and say thank you to my masters. You can skype me to death later~~ :grinyes:

Who made me be interested in modeling?------The cars. Yes, just the love of cars, of cause, ferraris.:icon16: Ok that's a long story and a challenge for my English level~~ :icon16:

The first one who broke my jaw, crushed my eyes, made me fool was the Russian horse.:icon16: Yes, Alex Kustov. That's the first time one made me know about the real modeling. I always bow before you my master!! Thanks!!

And when I made myself a member of AF I just told myself, God, that's my hell, and that's my heaven.

The first one who made a heartquake to me on AF was the badass who started this thread. :evillol: While I was looking at the 348 engine I was just saying "KAO..." (that's Chinese for "damn") and trying hardly to keep my eyeballs stay where they were. And this badass(4 or 5 badasses?  ) was keeping telling me "Hey kiddy, this is what we call modeling" everytime he shew me his works. (Of cause he hasn't ever said that, just made me think of :smokin: ) So thank you Uncle G~ Big kiss~~~ :sunglasse

And the next one was Robrex, actually i've seen all his threads but the first one which killed me off was the YZR500, that's an accident. I'm not interested in motorcycles and know nothing about the YZR500 but I just be there, and was killed... I remembered I sayed "oh no..." in that thread, and misunderstood some people including Rob, that's really because I was dumb, no words appeared in my head, so I can only say "no". :cwm27:

Ok it'll be a never ending story if I list all my masters, but there really are so many guys who made me know the real meaning of modeling, pushed me to be better and made me love more about modeling. Thank you very much Rallyraider, Hiroboy, RobiJ, P64, MPWR, Uncle Klutzie, Kunta, Hirofkd, Hawk312, Ales, Nniemi.........Oh god there're too many!!!!! And also my dear Chinese fellows~~ Thank you guys! Thank you AF!!!!:worshippy :worshippy :worshippy

Edit: Sorry I'm too wordy...

Wow, thanks Gio! I'd like to thank you for sharing your builds, you have improved exponentially over the past year.

I'd have to thank Bob Downie (ZoomZoomMX-5), Eric Cole (mach1_2003), Ken Mouton (p9o1r1sche), Clay Kemp (Hakkfan), Matt Wadlinger (CADguy), Mark Jones (Scale-Master) for helping me out along the way.

There are too many people to list as inspirations here, such as Gio, Stevenski, Andy, Jaykay, Robrex, and many, many more.

EDIT: I have to thank Ray too, he puts up with a lot of my BS.

This seems to be turning in to a back stroking event... but I have to put a few lines, I'll try to comment on them too.

Max at www.motomodeling.com for creations above the normal standard.
Robrex for his lathe skills that are truely inspirational and
Rally raider for helping me at my first trembling steps at the CF arena

It would be really hard for me to pin down actual people that have helped me learn, for the most part, or inspired me even.

I reckon there were two big changes in my modeling so far - the first was the switch from not painting and just glueing kits together (basically). That change was precipitated by the owner of the LHS back in Baton Rouge and the annual model show/contest there. It was a sort of "Wait, there's more to this than just shaking the box?" moment. That's when I started painting bodies and so forth. It was there that I tried Tamiya paint for the first time and polishing for the first time, as well. A black, Tamiya spray can painted FD won me best box-stock at a contest, and that was probably the high point in that phase.

The next big step has a few people to thank as well. That next step was AF. Coming to AF was a sort of "There's more to it than just following the directions?" sort of moment. Thanks to Flyonthewall for pointing me in this direction after buying some parts from him on eBay. That action has probably the most actual influence, albeit mostly indirectly. Plus, his build style and skill is very influential to me. Another builder who has inspired me with his work is Ratdat, though he's not here anymore. His builds were always awesome to watch, and documented thoroughly. There are a lot of folks here whos builds are inspiring - that make me strive to get better; Hiroboy, Robrex, Rallyraider, Gionc, Bigfrit, GTMike, and others who I just can't think of because there are way to many.

If I had to pick people who had direct influence - beyond just inspiration, I'd have to thank Leon from Cobra Colors who didn't just sell me jars of paint, but jars of confidence. Using those paints really brought me a long way in my skills with finishing a model. And they paints by themselves would've been useless without CADguy explaining some of his paint secrets, so that I was able to use those paints and make nice, shiny cars worth looking at. Because of his tutelage and those paints, I've grown confident in my painting skill, and haven't any trouble with it any more. This is the most valuable lesson for me, to this point, because if I don't have to worry about paint, I can allow myself to really do some work.

Other than that, AF as whole. The wealth of information here and willingness to help by everyone is just awesome. I love it.

I forgot to add that I am very grateful to my 10 year old daughter's class mate for whose birthday present I decide to buy a model. Thanks to him, I was even in the hobby shop. I saw the cars and liked the idea of trying my hand at modeling....albeit the kit sat in my cellar for 8 years before I opened it

I would also like to thank the inventor of the internet thanks to whom I was able to surf for help and found Alex Kustov and then internet forums.

I have to say a big thank you to Andy (Mr MPWR to many). The first time I opened his F50 thread, modeling acquired a whole new, and for me promising, set of possibilites and challenges. It was him (he?) who convinced me to post my first model here on AF, whio answered my questions and for that he will always be my ultimate Obi Wan.

Hiroaki for all round modelling skill. I can't count the times I have called on his shared work for problem solving. Totally inspiring and practically useful.

Then there are the pioneers who really set the ball rolling on the forums. Just open up some threads from 3-4 years ago and see who was posting and what they were talkimng about. In retrospect it seems sometimes quite funny but it really shows just how far things have moved over those few years.

Those are my big ones. I don't mention all the friendhips that have arisen in the process.

Thanks to everyone who doesn't shout "Stevenski shut the **** up!!" at me when I write too much :D

Wow, thanks for the mention guys. Mike and Will, it's been my pleasure sharing tips and tricks, and watching both of you progress in your skills/talents.

I was fortunate enough to be inspired, and owe much thanks to a very talented group of modelers in Atlanta, GA. The Atlanta Car Modelers Enthusiasts (ACME). I met them after posting a car in progress here. Zoom-Zoom invited me to a meeting. I went, and that started a great deal of friendships for me.

3 members of that club, Veyron, Zoom-Zoom, and Mach1_2003, have all been great friends and mentors in my short modeling time. They give me great tips, and advice. They taught me what I wanted to know one step at a time. Now each one of those steps is part of my "modeling routine". Most importantly they give me honest critiques.

Any of the help I've given to fellow modelers you can be certain I learned from them.

I have just recently moved from Atlanta to Florida. I don't miss the Atlanta traffic, and I don't miss cold winter mornings. I certainly don't miss my old job.
About the only thing I do miss is that group of friends.

Second to them, AF has been a great source of information, and inspiration. I don't want to leave anyone out so I won't name names. A simpler 'thank you' to all, says it best.

I find many amazing modellers on AF with builds and skills that are truly wonderful, too many to list here. Most have been mentioned already and deservingly so. But if there is one modeller that has inspired me more then any other, it's Kunta. I'm always thinking of how and what he would do whenever I'm working on something. Modellers here that personally inspire me in my subjects, have me re-think my own abilities and make me go back to re-do something are Klutz, ( he can model a garbage can and make it interesting with stuff found around the house), Robrex, JTRacing, Proosen, Hiroboy, Auw, Gio (I still have the calender), Gridgirl and Sportracer who have all permanently changed and improved the way I model ever since I have joined AF.

JAY and Ray for being kick ass Suby biased mods. Mike, Chad, Willi for their putting up with me away from here. Newbies, here and abroad for the comical language differences, and still being able to understand them better than some Americans who don't know their English  The older dudes. Bob. He knows just about every kit ever done. And everybody else.:) Thanks everyone.

There are so many people I have to thank that the fear of letting one out almost made me not to post in this thread at all.

Mr Fukada, Kunta, 360spider were the first ones I knew on the internet, then I found AF and realized that all of them posted here!!!
PrimeraMan has always been my inspiration at painting, MPWR for someday machine my own parts, Hiroboy for making EVERYTHING he does at a level not achieved by most, Agamo for taking away my idea that mexicans couldn't model at those levels! LOL, Slk320 for always trying to super detail his builds even when he doesn't intend to :icon16: , Robrex for his amazing skills and kind responses, RallyRaider for always give me advice and support on my builds, Gionic, Hrmodeler, sjelic, CADguy, ZoomZoomMX-5, klutz_100, P64, Aress, Veyron, Bigfrit, Scale-Master, Sennake, SeanyG, Stevenoble, Thesaint111, Freakray, Geronimo77, Willimo, Merkava, Hawk312, tonioseven, Captain Mark, jaykay640, joeyko2000, mic329, allnie, Robi J, Guiddy, freakmech, mach1_2003, p9o1r1sche, Layla's Keeper, bvia, Vric, rallymaster... My head is tired... :sorry: I'm not mentioning everyone but thanks all for sharing your time, talent, knowledge and whisdom...

All in all Thanks AF community.

There is too many people who had influence ony my modeling, and some of them are not on AF. Some are masters in paiting, some in detailing, some in US cars, some in European, ... etc.
If I must to highlight some names they are Phil, Alex, Hiroboy, Pman, Sasa (who drags me back to bikes :-) ) and many more others.
Thank you all!

It's certainly good to be apprecited! :grinyes: I'm happy that I've been able to help and inspire people here. (Yeah Stevenski, I remember twisting your arm to get you to post your first pics of the Cobra. But I think your skill have improved dramaticly as a result!)

I've learned so much in the time I've been active here, but it's really hard to recall which builds and builders have been particularly inspirational for me- there have been so many. A number of builders that I learned from here early on have departed AF (along with alot of spectacular pics from what were terrific build threads). I've certainly learned alot here- using primer, safe stripping techniques, CF decals, painting with laquer, digital photography etc, are all skills I've learned from participating here. An so I'm indebted to everyone else who has participated here, for teaching me, inspiring me, and keeping me excited about building- from experinced builders who's builds and techniques I want to emulate, to beginners who ask me questions and make me think enough about what I've done to explain it.

In the last year or two, there has been one build/builder that has stood out as particullarly inspirational for me. Scale-Master's 1/12 Caterham has been a magnificent example for me of the type of work I've been wanting for years to be able to do. It's difficult to find good examples of scale automotive machining (most machinists aren't interested in making machined parts as a suppliment to static scale plastic kits), so it's a great pleasure for me to see a truely skilled modeler-machinist's work- and my own skills in machining have benefitted tremendously as a result.

Every one already mentioned in this thread and so many others that have not been mentioned, are bringing this hobby to the next level. The work I see in these pages is superb and we trully are fortunate to have master builders from around the world come together and share their craft with us.

I learn every single time a new technique, new way of doing something, new skills and knowledge about the models.

I won't name specific names, as I am too afraid to miss someone...so THANK YOU ALL for this experience. Because of you, this hobby will go on.

I have a couple. In general, I want to say thanks to everybody who takes the time to view and comment on my threads. The comments really keep me going.

Second, I want to thank Martin S in advance. Mostly because I'm gonna pester him when I start working on my Fujimi 959, haha. I only hope mine can look as good as his!
